New Student & Family Orientation

Sessions in red denote sessions that are specific to the Family Orientation program. Parents and guardians should attend these sessions specifically when available. 

8:30 AM    Check-in & Breakfast, Campus Center Lobby & Grill Area

Check in, chat with some peer leaders, and enjoy a continental breakfast before the welcome session. Be sure to register for this program at least a week in advance so that you can easily check in for the program. 

 

9:00 AM    Welcome, Campus Center Atrium

The program begins with an official welcome from the New Student Orientation team. 

 

9:30 AM    Family: Meet the Deans, Campus Center 235

The family program begins with a meet and greet with the Dean of Students team.

9:30 AM    Peer Leader Session, Various Locations

Students will split up into groups - please see your name tag for your group number. You will have the opportunity to meet with your peer leaders and group members and break the ice!

10:15 AM    Family: The Real Deal NJIT Student PanelCampus Center 235

Hear the personal experiences from the current students first-hand and discover NJIT from a student's perspective. This is your chance to ask those questions about life as a student and get real answers from our students!

 

10:15 AM    Academic Advisement, Various Locations 

Meet your academic advisor and learn about the expectations and curriculum for your major. SOAR students will remain in the Atrium.

 

 

11:15 AM    Public Safety: Keeping Safe On and Off Campus, Campus Center Atrium

Officers from the Department of Public Safety will share with you tips for how you can keep safe, be aware, and know the safety resources available at NJIT.

International students will meet with the Office of Global Initiatives to understand the requirements for maintaining your F-1 or J-1 status.
